GOLF
With humpback whales splashing off shore, tradewinds
whispering across the fairways and Pacific sunbeams streaming down, golfers
at Kapalua are constantly surrounded by powerful reminders that this is golf
in paradise.
The Kapalua Golf Club, set amidst a 23,000-acre privately
owned pineapple plantation, is one of the few Hawai'i resorts to offer three
18-hole championship layouts. Stretching from the pristine West Maui
Mountains to the azure Pacific Ocean, Kapalua's golf courses - The Bay, The
Village and The Plantation - capture Maui's stunning natural terrain and
diverse topography.
They are three courses of dramatically distinctive character, each venue
fine-tuned for players of all abilities. As different as they are, the
courses share something that is a Kapalua trademark: most putts will break
toward Moloka'i. Remember that, and the ball will usually have a better
chance of ending up in the hole.
